We need organizations like TCRP
By Gregorio Casar
The road to change in Texas is a long and difficult journey. But every day, I am heartened by the people and organizations that are doing the hard work to ensure that our most vulnerable communities are treated with respect and dignity.
That’s no small task. Almost every week, we see another roll-back to our hard-won civil rights coming from Washington, DC. But in Texas, the damage is worsened by officials keen on advancing an agenda of fear and hate.
Which is why I was alarmed when the Texas Civil Rights Project announced it lost a significant amount of funding because they have been at the forefront of challenging the injustices that are all too common in our state. Injustices like the anti-immigrant law, SB4, where both TCRP and I face our next legal hurdle in a federal court this Friday.
We need Texas organizations like TCRP fighting for Texas communities.
We need you and every single Texan who cares about justice and equality to go all in and support the resilient organizations at the forefront of leading change in our state directly.
I urge you to check out how you can support the #FightForRights Campaign here.
